Neck Pain and Chiropractic Care

We’ve all been there. That cramping of the neck that begins slowly after sitting at your desk for a while, driving your car, or even while leisurely watching TV or reading. It’s such a common discomfort for some that at times they admittedly CHOOSE to ignore it.

Your neck and shoulders work hard every day. Neck pain is almost a universal human experience. The slightest deviation in the relationship between the bones of the cervical spine can cause pain and limit head and neck mobility.

Why?

If you find yourself suffering from neck pain often, take note of the following: Although there are serious causes associated with neck pain such as degenerative disc disease, a herniated disc, rare infections (tuberculosis and meningitis) or a pinched nerve – the most common causes are a lot more trivial.

Neck pain can derive from any type of neck strain or neck injury (whiplash), virus infection of the throat (which may lead to lymph gland swelling thus putting strain on the neck), headaches, poor posture, uncomfortable sleeping positions or even physical and/or emotional stress.

Seven vertebrae build the foundation of the spine in the neck and surround the spinal cord and canal (cervical vertebrae). Between each vertebrae are discs. Nearby the discs pass the nerves of the neck. Within the neck, structures include the skin, neck muscles, arteries, veins, lymph glands, thyroid gland, parathyroid glands, esophagus, larynx, and trachea. The slightest irregularity affecting any of these tissues might lead to neck pain.

Waking up one morning with neck pain might not be source for worry. However, if a crick in the neck is becoming customary to your everyday life, then let’s find the problem – and fix it!

  • How we can help:

Over-the-counter pain relievers are simply not an effective long term treatment plan. Chiropractic care has proven to eliminate – NOT MASK- but eliminate the conditions associated with neck pain. Research shows engaging in light chiropractic treatments can relieve neck pain more effectively than any pain medication. Spinal manipulation and/or chiropractic neck adjustments have been shown to be beneficial in the treatment of neck pain.

Three quarters of Americans suffer from neck pain at some point in their lives – and this suffering is quite unnecessary. Allowing a professional chiropractic to take a look at what exactly is causing the pain, assessing where that pain is deriving from and when it’s at its peak – will begin the journey to long-lasting pain relief.
